How to Succeed at Aging Without Really Dying
Lyla Blake Ward’s How to Succeed at Aging Without Really Dying is a wry, witty, and wise collection of essays about living in a world of bubble packs you can’t open, electronics you can’t turn on, polls you’re not deemed worthy of taking, and expiration dates you can only hope don’t apply to you. Most of all, it’s about the difficulties of staying on the planet when it’s spinning out of control.
While taking a humorous look at health, grandparenthood, computers, and soc

This is a perfect book for seniors… or anyone that is almost there! Extremely easy to read. One can turn to any page and get a dose of humor. If you don’t find things you do here, you’re unusual. You have to laugh at the authors approach to computers and technology. I’m sure you’ll enjoy this book. It’d make a nice gift for someone you know that is having a problem coping with being a senior citizen. They won’t need to feel that they are alone anymore! If you are “over the hill” and want your kids know why you do the things you do… buy copies for them! It’ll help them understand you better.

Growing old can mean different things to different people. One thing is for sure, though, you need to keep your sense of humor in the process. One of the best ways to accomplish that is to read Lyla Blake Ward’s new book, HOW TO SUCCEED AT AGING WITHOUT REALLY DYING, published by AmazonEncore.
Ward takes on every subject encountered with the aging process including marketing, investments, memory lapses, health issues, exercise, diet and the lists go on and on. Now that with statement you might ask yourself, what is new with this book that other books haven’t already covered? Well, quite a bit, my friends.
This book takes on all the issues and does so with a sense of humor that will keep readers laughing long after the book has been read.
What really makes this book a winner, however, is the fact that each reader will recognize themselves within its pages. Ward has gone above and beyond in reminding the “senior” community that they really cannot take life to seriously. After all, we all want to succeed at aging without really dying, don’t we?
Ward resides in Wilton, Connecticut. When she isn’t writing her local Congressman, the President or government agencies, she takes a stab at correcting the quality problems in today’s manufacturing sector. Whether she is writing letters, books or just enjoying a grandchild’s school play, she does it with all her heart.

Just as described, this book is effectively a collection of brief essays on aging. Much wit and wisdom is included in each section, and it addresses the aspects of being a person of a certain age in 2010. I laughed throughout the book, and then sent it on to my mother. She, too has enjoyed it. While many baby boomers and those younger are technologically savy, my mom has a tough time with email links, digital video feeds, even simply programming her remote! She’s been struggling to learn the ins and outs of digital cameras, placing orders online and using a cell phone (no, I on’t think she’ll ever text anyone). While the title can be off-putting to some, this is a book that takes a light hearted look at aging in an ever-progressing world… and enjoying it! I’d recommend this as a gift for those who are not into all of the “new” technologies, but I’d think others could find it just a wee bit offensive. Maybe not, though. It is funny!

The author delivers some very witty essays on the changing world around her as she ages. Very pithy and very dead on. Her musings are not Dave Barry – hurt your sides laughing funny – but they do show how the other side of 65 views the ever-evolving world we live in. I, for one, am very grateful for the chance to read this and think that each essay will be a great conversation starter with my folks – who definitely qualify for that aging without really dying bracket!
I highly recommend this book!
All the best,
Jay
